6 Nourishing Trader Joe’s must haves

Do you love Trader Joes? Are you all about that 2021 "new year new me" health kick you say will last the entire year? (I believe in you.) Well, you've come to the right place.


Let's take a look at some of my favorite munchies Trader Joe's has to offer that make sure you can maintain a healthful diet.

#1 Kale Gnocci

Hey I am no kale lover either, but, who doesn't love gnocci? This gnocci Trader Joe's has to offer is an absolute game changer.


This bag is made up of only five ingredients: potato starch, chickpea flour, sea salt, extra virgin olive oil and kale... obviously. Not to mention it's full of plenty essential vitamins our bodies need - vitamin D, calcium, iron and potassium. One cup of these babies offers 7g of protein, 5g of fiber, and 0g of sugar.


If you love these, you will be sure to enjoy their delicious cauliflower and sweet potato gnocci they also have to offer!


#2 Everything but the Bagel Greek Yogurt Dip

This dip is truly everything you could ever want in a dip. Ha. We all know of Trader Joe's Everything but the Bagel seasoning, but did you know about the DIP? No you didn't, don't lie. Poppy seeds, garlic, onion, and sea salt, meet creamy refreshing greek yogurt. These ingredients were made for each other, a true love story.


Each 2-tablespoon serving contains just 60 calories, 2g of carbs, 5g of fat and offers 1g of protein with 0g added sugars. Compared to a regular cream cheese spread, this dip has 4 times more protein and half the fat, your gut is thanking you for this easy switch. This dip pairs great with Trader Joe's organic sea salt pita chips, give it a try! Don‘t just stop at this dip though, Trader Joe’s has an array of dips that will knock you off your feet.


IMPORTANT- Make sure you read the warning label before you buy it: "highly addictive."


#3 Chili Lime Chicken Burgers

A zesty, fresh twist on chicken transformed into America’s favorite comfort food - a burger. Don't expect much of the "chile" in these burgers, but do expect 19g of protein, 2g of fiber, only 150 calories, and a handful of full-flavored seasonings! Ground chicken, onions, bell peppers, garlic, cilantro, salt, lime juice concentrate, and red pepper flakes make up one patty.


Top this burger off with guacomole, some fresh greens, salsa - if you're feeling bold (if you're REALLY bold you'll add some of Trader Joe’s habanero and lime salsa to it). Add any other veggies of your preference on a toasted multigrain roll and you're ready to go!


You might as well pick up a box of their salmon and tuna burgers too while you’re there.


#4 Gone Bananas

Trader Joe’s has me impressed with this one. PRE-MADE frozen dark chocolate banana bites ready to eat right out of the bag! These ingredients are some of the healthiest swaps you can make when it comes to dessert - cocoa butter, cocoa mass, cocoa powder, skim milk power, natural cane sugar, natural vanilla flavor, coconut oil, dark chocolate and bananas, that’s it!


You get 4 of these banana bites for only 100 calories. Frozen bananas taste just like ice cream, but these ones are coated in a hard shell of rich chocolate- the magic of this outrageously delicious coating is the coconut oil. Seriously, you need to try these!!


#5 Cauliflower Pancakes

Oh baby! These aren’t your typical breakfast pancakes if that’s what you’re thinking. These are a nutritious spin off of your favorite latkes, a Hannukah classic. They are cheesy, fluffy, and ready to be devoured. Potato pancakes seem pretty perfect on their own, who knew cauliflower and parmesan cheese would make them even better!


One serving of 2 pancakes has only 170 calories and 2g of sugar with a whopping 7 grams of protein and 2g of fiber. Best. Pancake. Ever. Light sour cream and green onions make the perfect topping, get a little crazy and add some turkey bacon bites and now we’re talking.

A loaded baked cauliflower potato pancake... say less.


#6 Broccoli and Kale Pizza Crust

If you enjoy Trader Joe’s cauliflower crust and are a broccoli lover like myself, you will be sure to love this one. This crust hits - unless you don’t like broccoli. If you don’t like broccoli feel free to scroll right on by and carry on with your day.

One slice only has 70 calories, 15g of carbs and half a gram of fat. Did you hear me? 70 calories!! Of course that’s before you add all the toppings...


Let’s do a quick lil’ comparison here. One slice of Dominos cheese pizza has 277 calories per slice, 10g of fat, and 36g of carbs. Am I saying this pizza will taste even half as good as Dominos? No. Absolutely not. But I guarantee your body will feel Quadruple times as good after.

We love our bodies, which is why we treat them right. Next time you stop into Trader Joe's - don't panic, I got you.
